Abstract

This research is motivated by a phenomenon that occurs at the level of society where there is a low level of public participation in politics and the discovery of banners that say "we are ready to accept the dawn attack", this is one of the factors that causes the democratic system in Indonesia to not run optimally. The Low Economic Level (poor) community group is a vulnerable group in this phenomenon. This phenomenon occurs in almost all regions in Indonesia, including Bombana Regency. This research was conducted to determine the level of concern and factors that influence the perception of Low Economic Level (poor) communities regarding the importance of regional head elections in Bombana Regency. The method used in this research is mixed methods sequential explanatory design. The theories and variables used in this research are factors that influence participation according to Ramlan Surbakti. Data collection techniques in this research were carried out using interviews and questionnaires with data analysis techniques in the form of data reduction to drawing conclusions and the Chi-Square test with the statistical tool used in this research is Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 26.0 for Windows software. The results of this research show that the level of concern of the Low Economic Level (poor) community is still relatively low and from all the variables measured, the results obtained with H0 being rejected and H1 being accepted or political participation factors having a significant influence on the perception of the Low Economic Level (poor) community regarding the regional head election in Bombana Regency. Therefore, it is necessary to increase public political education related to the importance of regional head elections so that the implementation of democracy can run according to expectations.
